You get 209 minutes of testing time on the TEAS. ATI times each section on its own, so you can’t carry extra minutes from one section into the next.
| Section | Questions | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Reading | 45 | 55 minutes |
| Math | 38 | 57 minutes |
| Science | 50 | 60 minutes |
| English and language usage | 37 | 37 minutes |
| Total | 170 | 209 minutes |
How long to plan for on test day
ATI tells test takers to plan on 4 hours at most for the whole appointment. That covers check-in, the four sections and the optional 10-minute break after Math, which doesn’t use any of your testing time.
The sections always come in the same order: Reading, Math, Science, then English. Inside a section you can go back and change answers. Once you submit a section, you can’t return to it.
Pacing by section
English gives you the least time, exactly one minute per question. Science and Reading give you about 1.2 minutes per question, and Math gives you 1.5. If you practice with a timer, practice English and Science at full speed first.
