About the MBLEx

The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) gives the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). It’s a computer-adaptive exam of 100 questions, and you get 110 minutes in a 2-hour appointment. You have to answer all 100 questions to pass, and results are reported only as pass or fail. You take it at a Pearson VUE test center.

What the practice test will include

The MBLEx pass will include full practice tests that follow FSMTB’s content outline, a question bank by topic, every answer explained, and insights that show which topics to review. A licensed massage therapist reviews every question, so the MBLEx test will open after our TEAS practice.

MBLEx passing score

FSMTB reports MBLEx results only as pass or fail, with no number score. You need to answer all 100 questions in the 110 minutes to pass.

How to study for the MBLEx

The largest area is client assessment, reassessment and treatment planning at 17%, followed by ethics, boundaries, laws and regulations at 16%. Because the content areas are close in size, a study plan should cover all seven. Take a timed practice test early to see which areas pull your results down, then spend most of your time there.

Where you take it

You take the MBLEx at a Pearson VUE test center. FSMTB doesn’t offer it online.
