What is the CCMA passing score?

You need a scaled score of 390 or higher to pass the CCMA. NHA reports scaled scores from 200 to 500, and the same passing score applies to every NHA certification exam.

Checked against the source on October 15, 2026.

A scaled score isn’t a percentage. NHA converts your number of correct answers onto a 200 to 500 scale so that scores mean the same thing across different versions of the exam. That’s why NHA publishes a passing scaled score rather than a number of questions you need right.

Only the 150 scored questions count. The 30 pretest questions don’t affect your score.

If you need a retake

Plenty of people take the CCMA more than once. NHA’s retake rules are:

  • You can take the exam up to three times, with at least 30 days between attempts.
  • After a third attempt, you wait one year before each further attempt.
  • Each retake means registering again and paying the full exam price.
